Registration

Logging in with a username and password

To access any part of the genealogical tree section of the website, you will need to register for a user account. Before doing so, you must first read the Privacy Policy and agree with the stated Terms and Conditions. When you request a user account /login, you will be asked to indicate how you are connected to the Hatchuel-Hatchwell family (or any other spelling derivations) and any of its branches with as much detail as possible. If this is not provided, you will not be granted access. If you are not related and wish to see our genealogical records, you will need to e-mail us with an explanation as to why you would want to see this information and we will provide information at our discretion.

Before registration, you will see an online version of a larger offline genealogical database (which contains additional information on many living individuals.) All the information collected here will be entered into the offline database. The online database will be updated periodically. When you create an account for yourself, you do so with the understanding that you are willing to allow yourself and your connection/s to our extended family to be entered into our off-line database. You must also provide your real name and a valid email address.

Once your registration is approved, you will be given permission to view all the genealogy data in our data base. You will be able to see various photographs and documents and make downloadable GEDCOM genealogy files. Your log-in information will help us add information about your family to our off-line tree.

In this day and age, where so much information is already available on Facebook and other social media, we give you the option of telling us whether you are comfortable sharing your personal information. When you check the agreement box in the form below, the following will be entered into the online database and will be available to other registered users: your full name, birth date / place, marriage date / place, divorce date / place, spouse(s) name(s), spouse(s) birth date (s) / place(s), death date(s)/place(s) if deceased. If you do not check the agreement box, only your name will appear. We also give you the choice of sharing your descendant data with us. For privacy reasons, the default action for this online tree is that only names of living individuals will appear and no other information if you do not check the agreement box.

This website recognizes that living individuals have a right to privacy. Every attempt is made to protect information about living family members. These decisions are based on a birth and/or death date. For security purposes and to protect the privacy of living descendants, only their names are available, not their personal data unless otherwise agreed upon. This includes birth/marriage dates/locations, photographs, notes, and biographies. Please let us know if you have any data about the death dates of individuals. If we do not have the death date for an individual and that person was born before1914, we will consider him dead and his information will be displayed. People born after 1914 and without a known date of death will be presumed to be living.

If and when family gatherings are scheduled, we will also be able to use your registration information to contact you via email.

Photographs

Photographs of living individuals are considered personal data and are normally suppressed. However, if the individual so chooses, a photograph can be tagged as “always visible”. Before any photograph can be included in this website, permission is obtained from the owner of a photograph (U.S. Copyright Law). Permission is also obtained from living individuals in a photograph if they are identified in the caption/description or they can be identified through deductive reasoning using names/relationships found elsewhere.

The statement “Used with Permission,” “Photo by,” or similar phrases along with the owner’s name identifies compliance with these requirements.

Personal Data Suppression

To insure the privacy of living individuals, our internet genealogy website will always suppress the personal data of living individuals from viewing by the public vs. our members.

Original data given to us in trust (personal information, e-mail/street addresses, phone numbers, etc.) is not provided to others unless your approval is first obtained. You should be aware, however, that most of this information is public domain and may be readily available to others using internet search engines (e.g., Yahoo People Search, Google.com, Birthday.com, Facebook).

Note: If a relative does not want their personal data to reside in a website server database in spite of password protection, that individual and linked descendants cannot be accommodated by the security program. They are reluctantly excluded from the website.

DENIAL OF SERVICE

If you break these Terms, we reserve the right to stop you from using the website. In fact, the webmaster reserves the right to deny access, use or service on the Extended Family of Solika Hatchuel Website to any user, for any reason whatsoever, at its sole discretion.
