Family Origin Theories

The Hatchuel Name in History

The origins of the Hatchuel family can be found in Spain whose Jewish communities were expelled in 1492. Although there are few pre-eighteenth century historical sources in which the family is mentioned, it would appear that most of its members settled in North Africa during the sixteenth century and remained there until the late of twentieth century when they moved across the globe.

The family may have originated in England and left during the expulsion from England which began in 1290. That expulsion ended in 1657 after 367 years.
